Am suffering with constipation due to being on dyhydrocodine?

All codine has a 'plugging' effect unfortunately, which is why i'm no longer prescribed it! natural remedies for constipation are licorice or prunes (not bad tinned in syrup actually!) alternatively ask your doctor. i was prescribed lactulose which is a sugar based laxative which should be safe to take.

hi hun why dont you try lots of fruit prums are really good if you can stomach them. and drink plenty of water and if you can cold liver oil not nice i know but it might help. try and stay away from eggs and bran products and bread and these things bung up up more. for the bloating try warm boiled water. i'm not a doctor but i just had a baby,i have gas,constipation. why don't you try a natural laxative or a enema for your constipation and tums or rolaids for gas.
I know how you feel, I was on them myself last year. I made sure I drank plenty of water and fruit juices, ate plenty of fruit and vegetables. I also found that having hot water with lemon juice and honey in, as well as a Yakult and some bran flakes for breakfast was a good start to the day, if you know what I mean!
Try these home remedies:
One tablespoonful of corn syrup added to 8oz of water to cure constipation
Add more fruits to the diet prunes pears, grapes, Orange juice & Papaya. Guava when eaten with seeds provides roughage to diet can give relief from constipation. Also - coconut milk. (Ever watch the movie Castaway with Tom Hanks?)
Bale fruit is the best laxative of all fruits. It cleans and tones up the intestines & gives constipation relief.
Bran cereal helps also.
Drink lots of water!
Excersize also helps a lot! Even slow motion yoga will help. Sometimes the changing positions in your abdomen will help you to pass the gass and "move things along" naturally.
If the constipation is really bad - get some glycerin suppositories. They go in the "other way" and don't usually contradict any medicines.
